best beaches

  • kiahuna beach, poipu - Our property has private beachfront access to this amazing beach! It’s just minutes away from the condo and can be accessed directly from the great lawn. Good sand for lounging, waves to play in, and a great spot for learning surfers. Check out the property beach hut for activities + beach towels. If you want to play/float in bigger waves, go down a bit closer to the Sheraton for a fun spot for Boogie Boards + older kids.

  • baby beach, poipu - Our favorite spot for beach days with little ones. The beach is surrounded by a natural rock barrier which breaks up waves and makes the water warm + still. At high tide, there are a few smaller pools perfect for babies. also a good sunset spot. You can often find sea turtles snoozing on the east side of the beach.

  • salt pond beach park, hanapepe - great option for a variety of activities - the natural rock barrier breaks the waves and makes it ideal for swimming. Waves are big enough in some apreas to play in, while also having calm areas for small kids and snorkeling. when the tide comes in, the waves crash over some of the rocks making a fun waterfall to play in. also a fun spot to search for seashells.

  • poipu beach, poipu - we don’t typically go here for beach days because it tends to be very crowded. i’d recommend going in the morning to avoid crowds. it’s also known as a turtle sleeping spot, so go check it out in the morning or evening to see big sea turtles sleeping on the sand. please be respectful and do not disturb or get too close to wildlife.

  • lawa’i beach, poipu - Not a lot of sand, but a favorite spot in the area for snorkeling.

  • hanalei bay, hanalei - Great beach for kids, surfing, or having a great beach day. Sand is super gradual, and depending on where you’re at the the bay, there are fun waves to play in or gentle surf for littles. Gorgeous mountains that go right into the sea.

  • polihale state park, westside - Beautiful beach at the end of the road on the west side of the island right before the Napali coast starts. It’s a bit of a drive to get there (the last few miles are a dirt road best traveled in an SUV), but a fun excursion to pack dinner and watch a picturesque sunset. Not super populated, and beach is so big you have a ton of privacy. No swimming, as the tides are dangerous.

  • puu poa beach, princeville - Beautiful beach adjacent to the One hotel Hanalei bay Resort in Princeville. Pretty views of the mountains and bays. Smaller surf to play in. Reef for snorkeling. You can park in the small beach lot and walk down the stairs around the hotel, or just pay to valet and take the elevators down through the hotel to the beach.
